Bob Yates has served on Boulder City Council since 2015 and differentiated himself most recently when he along with Tara Winer and Mark Wallach opposed increasing Boulder’s occupancy and supported local control over land use and planning. Bob Yates respects and values local government and sovereignty, while his ideological opponents have shown an eager willingness to give power to the Governor and appointed bureaucrats in Denver. Bob Yates is a tremendous communicator and has published a monthly e-mail newsletter since 2015 which clearly explains his views and why he voted the way he did. Yates is renowned for swiftly responding and acknowledging communications and email from the public. Bob Yates listens to and respects all voices in Boulder. PLAN-Boulder doesn’t expect to agree with him on everything, but we greatly respect Bob Yates for his willingness to listen and engage. Bob Yates will provide the leadership Boulder sorely needs.
Terri Brncic is a former CFO with a pragmatic data-driven approach to solving problems. Brncic moved to Boulder from San Francisco nine years ago and was motivated to run for city council through her involvement in the Safe Zones 4 Kids initiative (also endorsed by PLAN-Boulder) which she helped to place on the ballot. Terri Brncic supports increased water quality monitoring for Boulder Creek which is greatly needed. She is also focused on wildfire resiliency and flood mitigation – Boulder’s two biggest threats—and supports thoughtful transportation and housing policies.
For 8 years Tina Marquis served admirably as a member and president of the BVSD Board of Education. She is a proven and experienced leader who has an outstanding understanding of the issues confronting Boulder. A focus of her campaign is to expand affordable housing in Boulder for families with children. Tina Marquis also seeks to create safe and welcoming public spaces in Boulder and particularly around school campuses. Boulder will benefit greatly from Tina’s experience in the community and her knowledge of the issues.
Jenny Robins lives in Gunbarrel, a part of Boulder long under-represented on the city council. In her professional career she negotiated complex contracts and worked with local governments on key issues such as land use and zoning, as well as historic preservation and landmark management – all good experience for the city council. Jenny Robins’ focus on environmental sustainability and protecting wildlife habitat in her campaign is welcome as is her support for youth outdoor education. Jenny Robins is also committed to improving public safety across the community.
ara Winer is an incumbent who has served two years on the Boulder City Council. Notably, Tara Winer joined Bob Yates and Mark Wallach to oppose increasing occupancy without affordability and to support local control over land use and planning decisions. Tara Winer is a problem-solver with a hands-on approach to politics and leadership that brings her into the community. She is always ready to listen and engage on any issue and earned broad support. Tara Winer’s key campaign issues include creating a safe and welcoming community, improving fire mitigation and preparedness, and improving public safety along Boulder Creek, underpasses, and parks.
